Audi R8
Audi R8 (Typ 42) is a mid-engine, two-seater sports car, which uses Audi's trademark quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. It was introduced by German automaker Audi AG in 2006.This car is exclusively designed, developed, and manufactured by high-performance private subsidiary Audi AG, quattro GmbH, and is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform. The fundamental construction of the R8 is based on Audi Space Frame, and uses an aluminum monocoque which is built using the space frame principle. This car was built by quattro GmbH in a newly renovated factory at Audi's 'aluminum site' at Neckarsulm in Germany.
In 2005, Audi announced that the name of the successful Audi R8 race car would be used for a new road car in 2007, the Audi R8, is based on the Audi Le Mans quattro concept car (designed by Frank Lamberty and Julian Hoenig), appeared at the 2003 International Geneva Motor Show, and the 2003 Frankfurt International Motor Show. R8 development program started in 2004, Lamberty design approved and frozen for production. Body prototype production began field trials in January 2006. R8 road car was officially launched at the Paris Auto Show on September 30, 2006. There was some confusion with the name, which shares the car with the 24 Hours of Le Mans winning R8 Le Mans prototypes (LMP). 6 times the 24 hours of Le Mans winner Jacky Ickx describes the R8 as "the best car handling road today".
It is also the first production car with full LED headlights.

R8 4.2 FSI quattro Coupé (2008-2012)
Audi R8 was originally equipped with a 4.2 liter V8 engine. Specifically, it is all-aluminum alloy 32-valve (four valves per cylinder) gasoline engine, using Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI), and has a displacement of 4,163 cubic centimeters (254.0 cu in). It develops a motive power output of 420 metric horsepower (309 kW; 414 bhp) (Directive 80/1269 / EEC), and produces 430 newton meters (317 lbf • ft) of torque, at 98 RON 'Super Unleaded' gasoline. It is basically the same engine used in the Audi RS4 B7, but modified to use a dry sump lubrication system. This system uses two chain-driven double overhead camshafts (DOHC) per cylinder bank, and uses variable valve timing for both inlet and exhaust camshafts. 4 wheel drive system is biased towards the rear; sends 30% of power to the front wheels and 70% to the rear.
R8 Coupe 5.2 FSI quattro (2010 to 2012)
R8 V10 CoupéAudi AG launched the Audi R8 V10 on December 8, 2008. Compared to the V8 variant, the numbers have improved the performance of the R8 V10. Audi new states 0 to 100 kilometers per hour (0.0 to 62.1 mph) time as only 3.9 seconds, 60-124 mph (97-200 km / h) in 8.1 seconds, and top speed 316 kilometers per hour (196.4 mph). Other changes to the V10 version of the R8 include some aesthetic differences: like all-LED (a first-world), additional interior such as Bang & Olufsen 465-watt sound system, and a more aggressive body styling, larger rear brakes and wheels are different ,

Created from the ribs of the Lamborghini Gallardo, the R8 supercar Audi tasty beautiful to look at, easy to live with, and simply awesome to drive. Midcycle updates continue to organize fresh, while lightweight, 550-hp "V-10 Plus" model coupe joined the lineup for 2014. Both coupe and roadster models remain available for a carry-over 430-hp V-8 or a 525-hp V - 10 engine paired with either gated six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Regardless of how it came, R8 is pure lust.
2016 Audi R8: We Ride and Detailed Supercar Next Four-Surrounded
The second coming.
Nearly 12 years ago, Audi launched the 2003 Le Mans Quattro concept, which implies infinite supercar brand's ambitions. Only three years later, he turned into a production R8. Built on a platform shared with the Lamborghini Gallardo, the R8 married everyday usability with supercar performance. Now Audi launched the second generation R8-and we were invited to come along for the ride in ass whipped development Ascari racetrack in Spain. We sat in on some hot laps driven by racer Frank Stippler and able to talk in depth with the engineers about the new model.
The Evolution, Not Revolution
One thing is for sure: the Audi did not reinvent the wheel. The new R8 stands on the latest comprehensive platform of its predecessor, now called MSS, or Modular Sports System. It is divided by Lamborghini Huracán, but does not bear resemblance to the Porsche 911. At some point down the road, step-sister company Porsche and Audi have to sit together and find a way to get the synergies of the next generation of sports cars. Such as sitting, the new R8 Porsche conceived before becoming part of the Volkswagen Group. Thanks to the clever mix of materials, the new R8 able to shed more than 100 pounds compared to the current car, and the center of gravity even lower than before. R8 is also more powerful than ever. Slightly modified, naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V-10 is a high-revving engine, the 8850-rpm redline, and cranks out a healthy 540 horsepower (up from 525). V10 Plus model adds another 70 horsepower for a total of 610 (versus the previous 550). At launch, the new R8 will have only 10-cylinder V-8 will not be offered at first.
With more power and less weight, 2016 R8 V10 is, predictably, much faster. Sprint from zero to 62 mph takes 3.5 seconds, or 3.2 for V10 Plus, according to Audi. Ungoverned top speed is rated at 201 mph or 205 mph, depending on the model.
Exit Goes Gate
Although powerplant old-school when it comes to transmission, Audi turns back on tradition. Lovely manual transmission predecessor, with its metal gated shifter, lost. The new R8 comes only with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The console shifter looks futuristic, and the shift action is ultraquick, but we were sorry to see go manual. As before, the torque is transmitted to all four wheels via Quattro setting four-wheel-drive Audi. The default distribution is slightly rear biased, though fully variable from 0 to 100 percent on each axle. Standard kit includes 19-inch wheels; 20-inch rolling stock are optional, such as carbon-ceramic brakes. Audi has fitted water-cooled differential front and rear limited-slip differential is passive, and electromechanical power steering. Variable, magnetic-ride suspension will again be offered as an option. Audi Drive Select switch on the steering wheel; Performance is the main settings and stability control system can be switched off completely.
Blades switch
Styling of the new R8 evolution, but it does not make its predecessor look dated. The new R8 grille and chiseled lines bring it closer to the rest of the current Audi portfolio. Visual elements that define, vertical blades behind the doors have been reinterpreted. They have been divided into small knife under the beltline and the extension of the side window. As before, the blade can be ordered in body color, in contrasting colors, or carbon fiber. LED lights are standard, and there is an optional laser lights; the latter may even be offered in the US, when Audi won the wrestling match with our government over its outdated lighting regulations.Mirroring TT sports car leaps forward, R8 charge ahead with a futuristic interior that includes Audi's "virtual cockpit" with a large TFT monitor is placed directly in front of the driver. In addition to Drive Select function, the button on the steering wheel which is devoted to setting discharge and ignition.
On the road, we expect to see topless R8 Spyder back, as well as entry-level models with either V-8 or V-6 turbo possible. There will likely be another version designed for racing customers. Audi will also offer a fully electric, rear-wheel-drive R8 e-tron-which will make for a truly exotic.
